Bartmann jugs

In *Vind* magazine issue 30 (2018), authors S. Ostkamp and W. Snip published an article on *Bartmann* jugs (beard-man jugs), inviting readers to submit photos and descriptions of their finest examples—including those with "pointed noses"—to the editorial team. This call elicited hundreds of positive responses, sparking a chain reaction that ultimately resulted in this trilingual, 656-page definitive work. Illustrated with over 1,400 images, the book offers an in-depth exploration of the origins, history, and individual production centers of these vessels, as well as the trade, distribution, usage, and iconographic significance of the face-mask imagery adorning them.
